EDGAR W BURNS
Captain Edgar W Burns of Shelter Island, died on Wednesday, Nov 18. Captain Burns, who was born in Shelter Island, was forty years of age. He was well-known in yachting circles, having been the captain of several well known local yachts, and was a member of Peconic Lodge, F & A M of Greenport.
Captain Burns is survived by his mother, Mrs Minnie Burns; his wife Mrs Lucy Burns; one son William and a daughter Elizabeth Burns.
Funeral services were held on Sunday at his late residence on the Island, the Rev Lincoln Shear, pastor of the Shelter Island Presbyterian Chruch, officiating. Interment was in the Shelter Island Cemetery.
