James C. Lods Dead
Former Resident of Benton County Passed Away at Monticello
James C. Lods, a well known and highly respected citizen of Monticello formerly of Gilboa, passed away at his home in Monticello Friday evening shortly after 7 o'clock, after a period of several years during an illness which had extended over which time he had suffered intense pain. His death was due to palsy. He was 59 years of age on January 4, 1924. Mr. Lods was a member of the Jackson Club and active in that organization until his health failed. For several years he was an officer in the Farmer's State Bank of Monticello, but had been succeeded by his son William in that position some time ago. He owned a large farm east of Monticello, which has been occupied by his son, William Lods, and his wife since the deceased retired from active work.
Besides the widow, Mr. Lods is survived by two sons, William and Asa, and two daughters, Misses Lillie and Letha Lods, all of Monticello. One son, John passed away a few years ago.
The funeral was held from the family home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Elvin Daniels of Indianapolis officiating. Interment was made in the Remington cemetery.
