    • F. J. SCOUTON, 64, BANK HEAD, DIES ON TRIP
      --------------------------
Parsons Business Man Had Planned to Start Hunting As End Comes
      --------------------------
      IN LUMBER BUSINESS
      --------------------------
Residents of Parsons were shocked to hear of the death of Frank J. Scouton which occurred yesterday afternoon. He was on his way, in company with Fred Chase, of Parsons, and Frank Jacobs, of Wilkes-Barre, for a deer hunting trip to Meadow Run, at the time he was stricken. When the automobile reached the second toll gate on the Bear Creek road, it was noticed that Mr. Scouton was ill, but he died before any assistance could be offered. Mr. Scouton was a man of some business judgment, the head of the Scouton, Lee & Company lumber firm and president 6f the Citizen's Bank of Parsons. He was in business for thirty-eight years, thirty-five of which he was a resident of Parsons. At the time of his death, he was 64 years of age.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church, was a charter member of Hose Company No. 1 and was affiliated with the P. O. S. of A., the Odd Fellows, Press Club, Franklin, Wyoming Valley Automobile Club and the Sportsmen's Club.
Being of a kind and charitable disposition, although quite retiring, he gave in great profusion to the assist of every worthy cause or to any individuals who might be in distress. His charity was quite and unassuming, as was his character and personality.
Mr. Scouton was born in Elwell, Bradford County, in 1860. and came to this valley when a young man. Surviving is one son, Wert W. Scouton, of Seattle, Wash.; a grand-daughter, Helen, who resided with him, and two brothers, James R. Scouton, of Wilkes-Barre, and John G. Scouton, of Dushore.
