- William Estes(s), born 1800/1801 in SC, and traveled to Pike Co., Ms with a brother on a mule about 1822. He is listed in the 1850 & 1860 Pike Co., MS census with his family along with members of the Ezra & Elizabeth Estess family. He married Sarah Smith and they settled in the area now known as Silver Creek community of Pike Co., MS.
William & Sarah Smith Estes(s) had the following children:
1). John Calvin Estess (1822) married Barbara Walker
2). Martin Luther Estess (1825) married Sarah Phillips
3). Sarah Estess (1827)
4). Mary Estess (1830) married Robert Phillips
5). Nancy Estess (1834)
6). Thomas S. Estess (1837) married Martha Walker
According to the records of the Silver Creek Baptist Church, William Estess passed away on November 16, 1889. William is believed to be buried in the old Stalling's/Ginn cemetery located on the Johnny & Shelly Stovall property just south of Stallings Bridge on the west bank of the Bogue Chitto River. Ansel Estess remembered visiting the grave site in the 1940's, however no marker has been found to date.
