  Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Swan, 79, will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, November 24, 2014 from the chapel of Capps Funeral Home. The Reverend Benden Ginn will officiate. Mrs. Swan, a resident of the Windham House of Hattiesburg, died there on Saturday, November 22, 2014. She was born March 5, 1935 in Tylertown, Mississippi the daughter of the late Thad Ellis and Mattie Maybell Smith Rushing. She was a housewife and a member of Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her yard; helping others; spending time with her family; and studying her Bible. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers: Altus; Jay; and Jerry Rushing. Mrs. Swan is survived by two sons: Allen and wife, Sheila, Gaskin of Madison, Mississippi; and Darren Sanford of Memphis, Tennessee. One daughter, Melanie and husband, Jeff, Douglas of Hattiesburg. One brother, Harlon and wife, Janelle, Rushing of Destrehan, Louisiana. One sister, Nell Whittington of Tylertown. 6 Grandchildren: Heather Schuetzle; Natalie Breithaupt; Joshua Gaskin; Jacob Gaskin; Susan Griffin; and Knute Douglas. 9 Great-grandchildren; and 2 Great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: Jeff Douglas; Knute Douglas; Collin Hill; Eric Holmes; Brian Schuetzle; and Hutch Breithaupt. Burial will be in the Rushing Cemetery. Visitation on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 11 A.M. till 1 P.M. at Capps Funeral Home. CAPPS FUNERAL HOME in charge of arrangements.
