    • Velva Kimbrow, 95, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010 at Hill Regional Hospital with her loved ones by her side. Velva was born Aug. 29, 1914 in McKinney, Texas to Mamie Hall Jordan and Tony Hall. On October 20, 1936, she married Bert E. Kimbrow. For 20 years the couple owned and operated Kimbrow Jewelry in Dallas after Bert's return from the Navy following World War II.

      Velva later worked for Zales Corporation and Skillern's Drug until her retirement in 1980 when she moved back to Hillsboro to live with her sister, Leora McLean for 20 years. Velva was of the Church of Christ faith.

      In her retirement years, she enjoyed reading, watching TV, and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. Velva also enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She loved animals from the time she was a small child, and currently had a black cat she loved dearly named "Smokey Joe".

      Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bert E. Kimbrow; two sisters, Patsy Sides and Ruth Williams; a niece, Patricia Sides Crowe; and a brother-in-law, Scott McLean.

      Survivors include two sisters, Leora McLean of Hillsboro and Bobbie Curlee and husband, Jack, of Waxahachie; brothers-in-law, Billy Sides of Fort Worth and Clayton Williams of Lubbock; and several nieces and nephews.
