      John Jordan, b. VA., 1756: d. Washington Co., Ga., Aug. 20, 1828. Mar. N.C., 1786, Winifred Jordan, his cousin. Served in N.C. Troops, joined Gen. Samuel Elberts's Regiment in Ga: was taken prisoner and exchanged: was at the surrender at Yorktown: received grant of land for his service, Washington Co, GA. Pension granted to his daughter, Mary (Jordan) Newton of Athens, GA. Buried near Sandersville, GA.
