    • Manchester Press, Thursday September 6, 1945 Obituary:
Friends regret to hear that Mrs. Ernest Gearhart, who had been ill for some weeks, passed away at the Monticello Hospital at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 1945. As Mary Neil, she was the only daughter of Alexander and Lilly Marshall Neil. She was born on the home farm east of Hopkinton, May 9, 1886, and attended the public schools here.
On February 19, 1913, her marriage to J. Ernest Gearhart took place, and the home was established here. They were parents to one son, Donald. Besides her husband and son, two grandsons, Charles Wayne and Donald Lyle, and one brother, Marshall Neil, survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, W.S. Neil and Earl Neil.
Mrs. Gearhart was a quiet unassuming lady and will be missed by the Presbyterian Church of which she was an active member.
Services were conducted at 1:30 at the home and 2"00 at the church Friday, August 31 in charge of Rev J. Venecklasen. Burial was made in the family lot in Hopkinton Cemetery.
About ten hours after Mrs. Gearhart's death, her father-in-law died in the Monticello hospital. He had been in feeble health. He was 86 years of age.
