    • Mrs. Klea Myla Parks, 78, Advance, died Thursday, June 13, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.

      Mrs. Parks was born in Indianapolis on April 15, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Leslie C. Young, Jr. and Myrtle (Nowlin) Young.

      Reared and educated in Indianapolis, she graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1953. She later received her LPN and RN Nursing degrees from Rend Lake College in Illinois.

      In 1954, she was married to John T. "Jack" Parks at the Lynhurst Baptist Church in Indianapolis. Mr. Parks survives.

      For 31 years Mr. and Mrs. Parks lived in Illinois where she worked as a Home Health Care Nurse. In 1997, she and Jack moved back to Indiana and resided in Advance.

      Myla was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had a love for music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Her other hobbies included reading and all types of needlework.

      She was a member of Dover Christian Church in Dover, and a past soloist for O.E.S. from 1961 to 1965.

      Survivors include her husband, Mr. John Parks of Advance; a son, Mr. Kirk Parks and wife, Theresa, of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Zachary, Chis, Sarah and Andrew, and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Myla was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Small and a son, Andrew D. Parks.

      Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, with Rev. Jerry Imes officiating.

      Visitation is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

      Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
