- John T. “Jack” Parks of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Saturday February 2016. He was born August 31, 1934. Jack was the son of Evelyn and Tilford Parks.
Jack married Klea Myla ( Young ) Parks at Lynhurst Baptist Church on April 9, 1954. Myla passed away June 13, 2013.
Jack’s son, Andrew Dean Parks, a brother William D. (Bill) Parks proceeded him in death.
Jack leaves a son Daniel Kirk Parks of Indianapolis, a sister Jan Parks Whitaker of Indianapolis. 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Jack was devoted to his wife Myla, his son Kirk, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing euchre, was an avid reader & loved fishing. Jack graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1953 where he played football. He attended Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois. He was in the Air National Guard for 8 years from 1953-1961.
Jack and his family moved to Christopher, Illinois so Jack could work for Central Illinois Public Service (CIPS) for 31 years. He retired as a gas utility foreman in 1997. He was very involved in community service while living in Christopher. He served 8 years on Christopher High School board, 7 years as president. He was on the city council for 12 years leaving the position when he retired in 1997, was a Lions Club member for15 years. Jack and Myla were members of Dover Christian Church in Dover.
Funeral services will be held at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel.
