- Funeral services for Mrs. Roxie Thomas Rushing, 76, of Tylertown will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday June 25, 2016 from the chapel of Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home with Brother Clyde Cooper and Brother J. W. Graves officiating. Burial will be in the Centerville Cemetery in Lexie.
Mrs. Rushing passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born December 22, 1939 in Walthall County, Misssissippi to the late Maurice “Bud” and Alma Taylor Thomas. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Jerome Rushing and daughter-in-law Shanda Passman.
She was a member of Sauls Street Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who loved keeping house and taking care of her family. Mrs. Roxie was a very special person who gave unselfishly of herself to help others. She was loved by her family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her sons Jimmie D. Passman and Preston (Sarah) Rushing; daughters Joannie (Reggie) Williams, Shelia (Wayne) Phillips, and Carolyn (Larry) King; brothers Melvin Ray (Judy) Thomas and Michael (Jonteel) Thomas; sister Linda Gay (Mike) Perry; grandchildren Scott Williams, Theresa Williams, Everet Phillips, Coty Passman, Tiffany Passman, Chance King, Heather Thomas, Emily Rushing and Haley Rushing; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Scott Williams, Everet Phillips, Chance King, Coty Passman, David Perry, Ross Kennedy, and Matthew Graves.
Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until service time there at 11.
