- Richard Edward Riggs, age 90, passed away at his daughters home Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Born February 3, 1928 in Greenville, Ohio the son of Walter and Mazie (Tice) Riggs.
Married January, 21, 1955 to Nancy Sue (Smith) Riggs for 61 years. His "Sweet Sue" preceded him in death on June 23, 2016. Rich served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was a Mason. He worked as a marine engineer on a tow boat on the Ohio River. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and flying his own plane. A Member of the VFW Post #7570 Harrison, Ohio.
He leaves behind his daughter and son in law Rebecca and Keith Zell of Dayton, Ohio, son and daughter in law Jerry and Donna Riggs of Colerain Township, Ohio, grandfather of Beth (Dan) Heys, Margaret (John) Guy and Kenneth Riggs, great grandfather of Emerson Guy and Charlotte Mistler. Sister in law Violet Suit and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Walter and Mazie Riggs, wife Nancy Sue Riggs and brother Jerry Bruce Riggs.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. until time of funeral service at 4:00 P.M. all at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home 215 Broadway Street Harrison, Ohio 45030 with Rev. Harold Shackelford officiating. Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery Bright, Indiana with military honors provided by the Harrison Honor Guard.
