The Coopers left Crawford County for Will County near Joliet for one year then came west to Stephenson County in 1841 where they ultimately purchased land from the government and cultivated the untouched prairie. They farmed for about 12 years before selling the farm and moving into the town of Rock Grove. Mr Cooper died in 1886. Mrs Cooper moved to Iowa and at the end of her life resided with her daughter Mary Smull in Plainfield. Her funeral took place in Stephenson County, Illinois, where it is presumed she was put to rest.
