    • From the LaFollette Press, Thursday, December 27, 1973:

      I.F. Hicks, 82, of Jellico, died at the Jellico Clinic at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 18.

      He was a member of the Jellico Methodist Church for 47 years.

      He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Sams Hicks of Jellico; four daughters, Miss Grace Hicks of Jellico, Mrs. Kathleen Hicks Leach and Mrs. Betty Payne both of Gadsden, Ala., Mrs. Margaret Lovitt of Oak Ridge; three sons, Ray Hicks of Laguna, Calif., Dewight Hicks of LaPuente, Calif., Jerry Hicks of Monticello, Ky.; two brothers, Jack B. Hicks of Parma, Ohio, Wallace F. Hicks of Goshen, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Braden of Jellico, Mrs. Catherine Veach of Oliver Springs; six grandchildren.

      Funeral services were held Friday at 10 a.m. at Jellico United Methodist Church by the Rev. George Buchanan and the Rev. Ted Leach. Burial was in Jellico Cemetery.

      Ellison Funeral Home, Jellico, was in charge of arrangements.
