- Whitham, Ralph Stanley Binghamton: Today, Tuesday, March 26th, 2013, a son, husband, father, grandfather, true friend and a carpenter by trade, Ralph Stanley Whitham, 85, went to be with his Heavenly Father and the Master Carpenter. Ralph is reunited with his beloved wife, Barbara; son, Ronnie, and mother, Erma (Gram). Ralph was born July 24, 1927 in Great Bend, PA, where he led a mischievous fun-filled childhood and was the apple of Aunt Clara's eye. At 17, he joined the U.S. Navy, and was assigned to the USS Boxer, where he toured the world. Upon his discharge, he would embark upon a construction career, building the family home in 1949. He worked for Avella and Alekna Construction on many projects as superintendent, until retiring in 1989. He was a devoted carpenter, recently receiving his 65-year pin from Carpenter's Union Local 277. Some of Ralph's favorite memories were neighborhood camping trips, family outings, and road trips. Ralph is survived by his son, Dennis and wife Peg; son, Robbie and daughter-in-law Debbie; also six grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Casey, Kyle, Chris and Cody; along with four great-grandchildren, Clay, Ethan, Madison and Alexis; along with a bushel and a peck of friends. We would like a special thank you to the Acquisto families, Doris and Ed Conroy and family, along with special friend Connie Whitney. Also deep heartfelt thanks to the Hospice Team that helped our family at this time. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 30th, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home at 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, with Pastor Debra Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, March 29th, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. For those wanting to make a donation in Ralph's memory, please consider the American Diabetes Association or Comfort Ministries - Attn: Debra Wilson
