Roeper, retired lieutenant of the Rochester Fire Department and one of the drivers of the first piece of motorized fire apparatus in the city, died last night at his home, 358 Westfield St. As a youthful fireman, Mr. Roeper sat behind the steering wheel of what was then known as the "high speed Pope-Hartford Hose cart" as it roared and rumbled to alarms before a startled citizenry.
