  Ruth was born 24 Mar 1892 in Rochester, the first child of James Edward Conley and Mary Agnes Wiegand. She was baptized at St. Joseph Church in Rochester on 3 Apr 1892. The godparents were her grandmother Charity Wiegand and her uncle Joseph Wiegand. Her family lived on State Street in Brockport, a couple houses away from her father's uncle John Owens. She moved to Rochester in the mid 1910s, lived with her aunt Lucy Wiegand Schleyer, and worked as a legal secretary. She married Joseph Hendrick Corcoran, a Rochester attorney, on 11 Nov 1918 in New York City at St. Agnes Church. After his military service ended in 1919, they lived in Rochester and had four children Virginia, Dick, Jeanne, and Anne.
