  Orville was the son of Allison A. and Sarah Orlena "Donahoo" Allen. He married Clara Mae Manning on June 27, 1918 in Washington D.C. Clara was born February 15, 1897 in Iowa. Orville was employed at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 20 years. He died at age 83 in Allen Memorial Hospital. Survivors include a son, William A. of Cedar Falls, a daughter Mrs. Barbara Boyce of Denver, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother Alvie of Waterloo and 2 sisters, Mrs. Alice Sherrill of Columbus, Georgia and Mrs. Velma Fary of Waterloo.
