- BENNETT, Richard "Dick" age 86, formerly of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Brookhaven Nursing & Care Center in Brookville, Ohio. Born on September 14, 1920 in Lewisburg, Ohio, he was the son of the late Edgar & Elizabeth (Myers) Bennett. He graduated from Lewisburg High School. Dick proudly served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a carpenter and built his own home for his wife, Mary and children, Denny and Donna. He was a musician for most of his life and was in several bands including "Dick Bennett Combo". He continued to entertain both children and adults as a local magician. He retired from Tri-County North Schools after many years as a School Bus Driver. Life Member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewisburg, Ohio. Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years: Mary Elizabeth (Blasdel) Bennett; brothers: William Bennett and Eugene Bennett; sisters: Ruth Tankersley and Gladys Bennett. He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law: Denny & Carol Bennett of Bellbrook, Ohio; daughter & son-in-law: Donna & Bill Beekman of Kettering, Ohio; sisters & brothers-in-law: Mary & Dick Harding of Beavercreek, Ohio, Betty Hurley of Brookville, Ohio, Nina & Bob Hahn of Lewisburg, Ohio, Jeanette & Don Wright of Lewisburg; grandchildren: Matt (Liz) Espy of Chicago, Illinois, Ivan (Angie) Bennett of West Chester, Ohio, Marie (Jason) Chambers of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Amy (Brett) Wenzler of Waynesville, Ohio; great grandchildren: Jack Chambers of Perrysburg, Ohio and Morgan Wenzler of Waynesville, Ohio; several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church - 511 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, Ohio. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Monday, April 2, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. In leu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund - 511 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, Ohio 45338.
