    • Thomas David Hasenauer, 82, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died Thursday, July 21,2016, peacefully in Charlottesville, Virginia. Thomas was born in Rochester N.Y., eldest son of Rudolf Hasenauer and Helen Hasenauer.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, and his only sibling, John Francis (Jack).

      Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Kay Hasenauer. He is also survived by his children, Mary Hasenauer, Laurie Stargell, Judy Shaw, and Thomas Hasenauer Jr; his step-children, Sandy Huffman, Stephanie Ramsey, and Ronnie Ramsey; and their spouses, partners and friends, Shirley Hasenauer, Jack Stargell, Jon Shaw, KarenVandenack, David Huffman, Michael Sprouse, and Liz Breeden. Thomas is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Mindy, Brooke, Eric, Joshua, Jessie, Aiden, Ellie, Branden, Trevor, Zach,Jacob, Julia, Holly, Helen, Christina, and Sarah; and 3 great grandchildren, Clara, Naomi, and Lucas.

      Thomas graduated from East High School in Rochester N.Y. Joining the army as a young man and serving in the Korean War. Thomas was a dedicated tooland die maker and a Principle Engineer for Comdial in Charlottesville, Virginia for 42 years, travelling the world on their behalf developing new projects. He was also a strong advocate for people in recovery. He had a deep love for Kay, his family, fishing and his little dog Tippy.

      There will be a memorial service on Wednesday July 27,2016, at 11a.m. at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home Chapel, Charlottesville, Va. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made on behalf of Thomas to Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 10 Slice Rd,Palmyra,VA 22963.
