Thomas M. Whedon, 72, of Syracuse died Friday. A life resident of Syracuse, Mr. Whedon retired from I. Fleischman & Sons in 1985. He volunteered as a foster grandparent for P.E.A.C.E. Inc. at Hillbrook Detention Center. Mr. Whedon served in War II and the Korean War, and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Conley-Nojaim Chapter. He was a communicant of St. James Church. Surviving are his wife, Eloise Fortino; and a sister, Frances J. Sloan of Syracuse. Services are 10:15 a.m. at Gaynor-Maslyn Funeral Home and 11 a.m. in St. James Church. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 119 South Ave. Contributions may be made to P.E.A.C.E. Inc.; Foster Grandparents Program; or Hospice of Central New York.
