  HOLMES, ALVIN CLEAVIE Times-Picayune, The (New Orleans, LA) - Sunday, February 1, 2004 Alvin Cleavie Holmes, a retired nurse's assistant, died Friday at his daughter's home in Yellville, Ark. He was 77. Mr. Holmes was born in Tylertown, Miss., and lived in Covington for many years before moving to Yellville five years ago. Survivors include a daughter, Gracie Adams; two brothers, Jessie Holmes of New Orleans and J.P. Holmes of Independence; two sisters, Janie Dier of Slidell and Pauline Hilburn of Purvis, Miss.; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. A funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Schoen Funeral Home of Covington, 1414 S. Tyler St. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of the Pines Cemetery.
