  Calvin W. Mercer, Private 2nd Company A. 36th Regiment - Artillery. Enlisted in Brunswick County at age 24, May 14, 1862 for the war. Present or accounted for through August 164. Captured at Fort Fisher January 15, 1865 and confined at Elmira, N.Y., until paroled for exchange March 2, 1865.
