      (August 13, 1925 - August 22, 2013)

      Danford Marvin "Dan" Allen, 88, of McComb, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

      Mr. Allen was born August 13, 1925 in Sartinville, MS. He was the son of George Marvin Allen and Anna Jane Rushing Allen.

      Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-8 PM at Jones Family Funeral Services and will continue Saturday from 9:00 until services at 10:00 AM in the chapel. Rev. Troy Slay, Rev. Fred Cook and Rev. Larry Cockerham will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

      Mr. Allen served in the United States Army, D Company, 1st Platoon, 313 regiment, 79th infantry, as a machine gunner. He fought during the Battle of the Bulge and was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Allen retired from Illinois Central Railroad where he worked as a carman for 27 years. He was an avid fisherman and quail hunter. He also raised and trained quarter horses and bird dogs. He was a local Ferrier for many years. He was a member of LifePoint Nazarene Church for 68 years.

      Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cannon and Willie Clay Allen.

      Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bobbie Della Allen of McComb; two sons, Jimmie D. Allen and wife, Mary of Folsom, LA and Jerry M. Allen and wife, Marguerite of Granville, IL; one brother, Jim Allen and wife, Ann of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Marie Slay and husband of Nashville, TN and Ollie Joyce Comeaux and husband Melvin of Fort Adams, MS; 10 grandchildren, Jimmie Allen Jr. and wife, Molly, Scott Allen and wife, Amanda, Phillip Allen and wife, Illene, Tera Guillot and husband, Jeremy, Daniel Allen and wife, Brandy, Geoffrey Allen, Lesia Morgan, Theresa Torrence and husband, Dean, Jill Sigman and husband, John and Jennifer Wilson and husband, Matt and 12 great grandchildren.

      Pallbearers will be his grandsons. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to LifePoint Nazarene Church in McComb.
