    • FRED BERLIN FUNERAL RITES HELD SUNDAY

      Funeral services were held for Fred Berlin at the Goettsch funeral home Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Roy V. Porter of Hopkinton officiating. Interment was made at Oakwood cemetery.

      Mr. Berlin passed away at his home in Monticello, Friday evening, August 8. He had been in failing health for some time.

      The birth of Mr. Berlin occurred October 30, 1882, in Castle Grove Township. He was a son of Michael and Wilhelmina Berlin.

      He lived on a farm during his early life and later was a stone cutter for the late J.E. Bateman for 18 years. After he resigned this position, he returned to the farm, where he lived until he retired and came to Monticello in recent years.

      Mr. and Mrs. Berlin were married July 16, 1908. They became the parents of a daughter, Mrs. Victor Lament, of Hopkinton. In addition to the wife and daughter, Mr. Berlin is also survived by a grandson, Victor Lamont, and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Parrott of Des Moines.
