      Funeral services are being planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Kearns-Dykeman Chapel for George Leonard Gaige, 49, of 1847 Burton Ave., who died at 8 p.m. Monday at St. Francis Hospital of complications from a kidney ailment. He had been in ill health for several years and had been a patient at the hospital since Sunday.

      He was born Sept. 21, 1914, the son of Dr. Elmer M. and Vernie Cowgill Gaige. He was a resident of Waterloo throughout his life and attended the East Waterloo schools. He married Anna Sulentic in December of 1961 in Waterloo. He was vice president of Raceway on Highway 20 West and had been a cab-driver for many years with the Yellow Cab Co. of Waterloo.

      Mr. Gaige was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Waterloo Aerie 764.

      Surviving are his wife; two brothers, Robert J. of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Elmer of 1825 Burton Ave.; one stepson, Louis Appel of 1847 Burton Ave.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. David Manley of 1847 Burton Ave.; and one step granddaughter.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.

      Friends may call at Kearns-Dykeman Chapel after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
