- James S Grubbs, of Bright, IN, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Age 86.
He was born in Bright, IN on March 5, 1926 to the late Floyd and Lela (nee Jackson) Grubbs. He married the late Alice Kathryn (nee Childers) Grubbs. They had two children Gregory L Grubbs and the late James C. Grubbs. Jim was a wonderful father and he had unconditional love for his children and grandchildren. He loved gardening and being outdoors. Jim and Alice started and ran Grubbs Lawn and Garden Store. His grandchildren remember helping in the fields with the crops and plants. Jim taught his family to be kind, patient and remember to listen before you speak.
Survivors include: loving son Gregory L. Grubbs; grandchildren: James, Ethan, Jessica & Rebecca Grubbs; and 7 great grandchildren; devoted brother Clifford (Ruth) Grubbs; sister-in-law Shirley Hiatt; and many other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 63 years that passed away on May 30, 2011; and his son James C. Grubbs.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 11:00 am until the funeral service at 12:00 Noon in the Brater Funeral Home, 201 S Vine St., Harrison, OH 45030 with Pastor Scott Stephans officiating. Burial to follow at Gibson Cemetery in Bright, IN.
Memorials may be made to Dearborn Hills UMC or to the Bright Lions Club. Donations will be accepted at the visitation and funeral or you may mail a check made out to either charity and mail to Brater Funeral Home.
