    • Joyce E. "Jo" Buchanan, 83, of Greendale, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. Jo was the youngest daughter of Dale and Ruth (Miller) Buchanan.

      After graduating high school in 1950, Jo went to nursing school at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati. Upon graduating with a nursing degree (RN) in 1953, Jo worked at Deaconess Hospital then at Rullman Receiving Mental Hospital in Cincinnati. In 1958 she moved to Kentucky and worked at the John L Lewis Miners Hospital in Pikeville. She then moved to McDowell Kentucky and worked at the Appalachian Regional Hospital. In 1968 she moved back to Lawrenceburg and joined the nursing staff at Dearborn County Hospital until 1973 when she went to work at Providence Hospital in Cincinnati. In 1977 she joined the staff at the new Lawrenceburg Community Mental Health Center and worked there until 1992.

      Jo was a lifetime member of the Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church and had been a member of Phi Beta Psi - Tau Chapter. Jo was one of the original members and supporters of P.A.W.S. who raised funds for a new animal shelter. In 1987 she was commissioned A Kentucky Colonel for outstanding nursing achievements while working in Kentucky by then Governor Martha Layne Collins.

      Jo was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Wilma "Billie" Renner and Lenore Gehring.

      She is survived by her nieces, Jeri Renner, Jenni (Renner) Ulrich, and Joann (Gehring) Beatley (husband Thomas), her nephews, Michael Renner (wife Amy) and Thomas Gehring (wife Wendy), 4 great nieces, 3 great nephews, several great great nieces and nephews, several cousins and her dear loving friend, Penny Fisk, Calla Rogers, Richard and Donna Bauer.
