  MRS. MERCY E. SCOUTON Following an illness of complications, Mrs. Mercy E. Scouton, aged 59, wife of Attorney James R. Scouton of 59 Park avenue, died at her home yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Scouton was a woman of unusually fine character and was highly thought of by all who knew her. An added sadness in the death of Mrs. Scouton is the fact that her daughter, Miss Rebecca Scouton, died only a few months ago. Mrs. Scouton was born at Eaton but has lived in this city for many years. She was an active member of the Grant street Presbyterian Church. Her husband and one son, Harvey, survive. The funeral will be held from her late home on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Tuakhannock Cemetery. (Wilkes-Barre Evening News, 17 Aug 1923)
