| Notes |
- Husband to Anna Watson. Their children: George, Harriet, Sarah, Mary Jane, Alice, Ann Elizabeth, and John Saylor Smith.
His parents: Peter Mills Smith and Amy Bodle.
Theodore Lewis Smith was born in Orange Co., NY (what is now Greenville). He came to Northmoreland Twp. Luzerne Co., PA with his parents about 1828. He was a farmer and lived on the same land as his parents until his death. The 1860 Federal census shows Theodore as head of household with his father Peter, his brother Samuel "Riley", sister Mary and his own family living in the same household. In 1854 after the death of Peter it looks like Theodore bought out his siblings shares of the property. The original farmhouse where Theodore lived is still there on Race Rd., Orange, Franklin Twp., Luzerne Co., PA which is a short distance from Cenetermoreland and Perrins Marsh Cemetery. Theodore and his family were active members of the ME Church in Centermorland and Theodore helped to build a second church which was dedicated 17 February 1870. He also bought a large area in Marsh Cemetery for his children to be buried. There are cement blocks with his initials T.L.S. designating the area, still there. Theodore and his wife Ann Watson Smith are buried in Orange Methodist Cemetery, (Brace Cemetery.), probably because that is where Ann's mother is buried and the plots were probably bought when she passed away. Marsh Cemetery was there until the late 1880's. Theodore also bought farms for his daughters Sarah and Ann Elizabeth as wedding gifts. (Family legend and MICHAEL SHOEMAKER BOOK, author Williams Blair, 1924).
