801 Lenore Ann Gehring, 87, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014. She was born July 7, 1927 in Guilford, Indiana, daughter of the late Dale and Ruth (Miller) Buchannan. Lenore worked as a bookkeeper at the Journal Press Register. She is survived by her husband, William Stanley Gehring; son, Thomas (Wendy) Gehring; daughter, Joann (Tommy) Beatley; sister, Joyce Buchannan; 4 grandchildren, Jessica York, Leslie Bullock, Matthew Beatley, Billie Beatley; and 3 great grandchildren, Emma Grace Bullock, Jay Thomas York, and Lily Ann York She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Ruth Buchannan. Graveside services will be held at Greendale Cemetery, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 10am, with Tom Beatley officiating. Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana. 803 Leonard Gaige, who was injured during the Binghamton Exposition, by falling on the grounds, died at the residence of his brother, Ezra Gaige, at 12:15 this morning. Mr. Gaige was a former resident of the town of Kirkwood, having held the position of Justice of Peace in that village for a quarter of a century. He was also secretary of the Broome County Patrons Fire Relief Association.

On the day of the accident, Mr. Gaige went to the exposition and had just entered the grounds, when he attempted to step across the ditch that is enclosed by the half mile track, missed his footing and fell, striking heavily on his back, breaking several ribs loose from the spine, and sustaining other internal injuries. For two years he had spent much time with his sister in Schoharie County. He is survived by three brothers Erza Gaige of this city, Thomas Gaige of Qwego and Robert Gaige of Tipton, Ia., and by two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Meade of Owego and Mary Davidson of Gallupsville. He also leaves five sons, Frederick C., Herbert E. and Edwin T. Gaige of this city, William H. Gaige of Kirkwood and Dr. E. M. Gaige. of Cincinnati O. He was 70 years of age and a member of Chenango Tribe of Redmen.

Leora McLean, 91, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in Hillsboro. The daughter of Wilbur W. and Mamie Ozella Campbell Jordan, she was born January 12, 1924 in Hillsboro. She lived in Hillsboro all of her life.

She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. On January 1, 1946, Leora was united in marriage to Scott McLean. Scott preceded her in death on January 30, 1974.

For 25 years, she served as a service representative for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. An active member of College Hill Church of Christ, she was also a dedicated and a long-time volunteer at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home. Leora also had a love of horses and was a participant in the forefront of researching and tracing quarter horse pedigrees. For many years, she was an officer of the Peoria Cemetery Association and faithfully produced and mailed the Association’s newsletter each year.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Ruth Williams, Patsy Sides and Velva Kimbrow. Survivors include a sister, Bobbie Curlee and husband, Jack; nephews and nieces along with numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro.

806 Levi "Nat" Donahoo was the son of Nathan Morgan and Susan (Shaffer) Donahoo. He had one brother James Ira Donahoo and 4 sisters, Martha, Elizabeth Reid, Sarah Orlena Allen of Waterloo and Margaret Ann Thomas of Aurora. Levi married Mary Harriet Laity on January 29, 1896 in Independence, Buchanan County, Iowa. To this union was born 3 children, a son Levi Earl and a daughter Addie Elizabeth who preceded him in death, and Ethel(Mr. Ottis Smith) of Oelwein, Iowa. Nat passed away peacefully from this life at his home in Strawberry Point, at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 14 days. His illness was many months in duration and he was tenderly cared for by his devoted wife. Nat engaged in farming but was retired for 23 years prior to his death. He was the last remaining member of his sibling family. 807 Lewis Hoagland died at his home, north of this village, Monday afternoon about 5:30 o'clock, after a long illness. He was 73 years of age and is survived by his wife. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Ann Grey of Genoa and a brother, John Hoagland of Locke.

Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Prayer was offered by Rev. L. W. Scott and remarks were made by Rev. H. C. Odell, C. J. Foster, Mrs. Robt. Mastin and Miss Ida Mastin sang. Burial at Stewart's Corners.

808 Lewis was born in Lincoln Co, MS to Martin Luther and Mary Phillips Estes. His mother was widowed by 1880. Lewis shares a stone with his wife, Emma Lois Phillips Meredith. Their sons, Johnny Parks Estes and Warren Oscar Estes, and daughter, Una Dee Estes, are also buried in Garden of Memories. Their daughter, Effie Estes Curry, is buried in Starr Cemetery.

LEWIS H. ESTES DIES MONDAY
Lewis H. Estes, 72, died at the Palestine Sanitarium at 7:10 p.m. Monday.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 28, at 3 p.m. from the Elkhart Baptist church with Rev. A. M. Ludlow officiating. Burial will be in Elkhart cemetery.
The remains will be at the Bailey Funeral home until the hour of the service.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, W. O. Estes, Sr., and Johnnie P. Estes of Elkhart; two daughters, Mrs. Essie Berry and Mrs. George Hoffman of Houston, and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Minnie Dale

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Dale of Conesus, widow of Wilbur Dale, were held at Brown Funeral Home, Livonia; last Monday. The Rev.W. J. Brown officiated and burial was in Temple Hill Cemetery, Geneseo.

Mrs. Dale was born in Castile Nov. 9, 1870, and had lived in Conesus for the last few years. Her death occurred at Rest Haven Sanitarium, Conesus, on Saturday, Dec. 3, 1955.

Surviving are one son, Joseph F. Whitman of Rochester, three granddaughters and one grandson.

MONTICELLO - Bert R. Lods, 77, Rt. 4, Monticello, died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday in Monticello Healthcare Center following a six-week illness.

He was born July 1, 1907, Monticello, to James C. and Pearl Bowton Lods. He was married June 22, 1928, to Mildred Vanatta, who survives.

He was a farmer and a member of Monticello Christian Church. He was a lifetime resident of Rt. 4, Monticello.

Surviving are a son, James, Connersville; two sisters, Lilly Rothrock, Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Letha Crowel, Rt. 1, Delphi; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and a sister preceded in death.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clark Shearer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

MILDRED I. LODES

MONTICELLO - Mildred I. Lodes, 78, Rt. 4, Monticello, died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday in Miller's Merry Manor, Logansport, where she had been a resident two years. She had been in ill health several years.

She was born Aug. 23, 1908, in Carroll County to Ralph and Bernice Stangle Vannatta. She was married June 22, 1928, to Bert R. Lodes, who died May 7,1985.

She had lived all of her life in the Monticello area. She was a graduate of Indiana Normal College and had taught in Carson School, near Monticello. She was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church, Carroll County, and, Mother's Club, Monticello, and member and past president of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Monticello.

Surviving are a son, James A., Connersville; a brother, Ralph Vannatta, Monticello; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A sister preceded in death.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Miller-Vcorhis Funeral Home, with the Rev. C.J. Hawking officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

825 Longtime Waseca resident Bruce Warren Lundholm, 83, died August 19, 2009, at The Colony assisted living facility in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

A visitation will be held Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 3-6 PM at the Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca, and will continue on Monday for one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 24, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Roger Haug officiating. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.

Bruce Lundholm was born August 30, 1926 in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Arthur and Maybel (Skoglund) Lundholm. Bruce graduated from Rochester High School in 1944.

After serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he enrolled at the University of Minnesota, where he won numerous awards as a member of the college track team. He graduated in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in zoology.

On September 10, 1949, Bruce married Jean Ann Priebe at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Their daughter, Beth Ann, was born in 1952.

Bruce went on to earn a florist's degree from the Marti Peeds School of Floral Artistry in Kansas City. He and his wife opened a floral and gift shop in Waseca. After a fire destroyed the shop, Bruce became involved in the mink industry, joining his father-in-law, E.C. Priebe, in a mink ranching operation in Waseca.

Bruce remained active in the mink industry for 36 years. He served as president of the Minnesota Fur Breeders Association and the president of the National Board of Fur Farm Organizations. On behalf of the national board, he traveled to all major European countries where mink are raised. He and Jean Ann also traveled for pleasure to Europe, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Africa.

Bruce served as president of the Waseca Rotary and Lions Clubs and as a member of the Zurah Shrine. He was also a recipient of the Waseca Jaycee Distinguished Service Award. For many years he was a popular member of the Lakeside Country Club.

An Eagle Scout in his youth, Bruce was an active supporter of Girl Scouting. He served on the steering committee for the capital fund drive to build Singing Hills camp in Waterville for the Cannon Valley Girl Scout Council. He was also chairman of the Camp Site Development Committee.

Never one to let a summer go unappreciated, Bruce for many years enjoyed boating with his family on the Mississippi River. More recently he spent periods of the summer at a lake cabin in Northern Minnesota, often joined by friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Ann; daughter Beth and her husband Jack Gordon of Eden Prairie; granddaughter Erica and her husband Nick Ciardelli of Eden Prairie; and granddaughter Megan Gordon and fiancé Joel Schneider of Chicago.

He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know him.
