Mrs. Sarah Maria Vanderlinder Robinson, aged 80, widow of Samuel Robinson, died Wednesday morning, March 13, at the home of her son, George W. Robinson, on the Pierrepont road, where she had been tenderly cared for by her son and his wife.
Mrs. Robinson had been in failing health about three years and since Christmas had been practically bed-ridden.
A native of Roebuck, Ont., Canada, she came to this country where she was married 60 years ago to Samuel Robinson. Most of her life has been spent around Canton. She was born Nov 7, 1854, a daughter of Eli and Mary Gibbons Vanderlinder.
Two sons, George Wesley Robinson, at whose home she died, and Thomas Howard Robinson, Lisbon; a brother, James Vandelinder, DeKalb, and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Robinson was a devoted mother, sacrificing for her sons at all times, placing always before them the highest ideals of life. Hers was a happy disposition and her home was one of good cheer and hospitality. | Vandelinder, Sarah Maria (I244)

Carl F. Blasdel, 90, went home to be with the Lord on November 10, 2015.
He was born in Akron to the late Kenneth and Hermina (Myers) Blasdel, was a Garfield High School graduate and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Carl was an active member of Brown Street Baptist Church for 52 years, worked at Skorman's Miracle Mart for 20 years and retired from Berean Christian Bookstore.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie; sisters, Roberta and Marion; brother, Kenneth; and son-in-law, Ron Victor.
He is survived by his children; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Burial with full military honors will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.

CARL J. GERDES
LANWORTHY - Funeral services for Carl Johnson Gerdes, 71, will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. in Wayne Zion Lutheran church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson will officiate.
Mr. Gerdes a resident to Langworthy, died Monday at John McDonald hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Cass township May 28, 1899, the son of John and Anna Siebels Gerdes. He received his education in the Jones county schools.
He married Anna Schafer Dec. 7, 1921. The couple farmed in the Langworthy area until moving to their present home in 1944.
Mr. Gerdes was a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran church and served many years as a director of the Langworthy Creamery.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Robert J. of Langworthy; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Dorothy) Goldsmith of Scotch Grove; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a brother, Alva J. of Amber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, three brothers, and a great-grandchild.

Carl Klug, 84, of Oelwein passed away on Wednesday January 11, 2017 at Mercy Living Plus. Memorial services will be held at a later date in April. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein. A memorial fund has been established.
Carl Rudolph Klug was born in Oelwein on October 5, 1932 to parents Edwin and Ethel (Reid) Klug. He graduated from the Stanley High School with the class of 1951. He then served his country honorably in the United States Army with one year being in Korea. Carl then attended Upper Iowa University, earning his B.S. degree in Biology with a minor in History, graduating in 1961. He also completed several correspondence courses in computer, TV and radio service and maintenance.
Carl had been a contract painter, and the longtime owner of a book and art shop as well as Klug TV and Electronics Service in Oelwein. He was one you could call a Renaissance Man, having been blessed with many talents and interests throughout his life. Among them, Carl studied weather, climate and astronomy; plants, animals and birds; geology and electronics. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, downhill and cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, hunting, fishing and swimming. Carl has served the Experience Works Program, Fayette Community Library at Fayette, Farm Extension Office at Independence and DeKalb Agricultural Association at Oelwein.
Left to celebrate Carl’s life are his nieces: Linda (David) Whitman of Grand Mound and Sharon (Terry) Frantz of Cedar Falls; his nephews: Richard Otdoerfer and David Otdoerfer of Strawberry Point. Catherine's parents were Ezekiel and Sally/Sallie (Blasdel) Harper. Following Ezekiel's death, Sally married Leonard Chase in 1834; Leonard and Sally are buried in Cambridge Cemetery, Dearborn County, IN. The burial place for Ezekiel Harper is not known to this contributor. Ezekiel and Sally had three children: (1) Catherine who is the subject of this entry; (2) Ruth Morse Harper (1821-1891) who married Stephen Augustus Bundy in 1845; and (3) Joseph Morrill Harper (1823-1908) who married first Jane Ann Smith in 1845 and then married Mary Virginia Patten in 1877. Leonard Chase and Sally Blasdel Harper Chase had two children: (1) Jacob Blasdel Chase (1836-1898) who married Eleanor Chase Blasdel (a child of Isaac Newton and Mary [Sutton] Blasdel) in 1858; and (2) Sarah Blasdel Chase (1838-1924) who married William Henry Curtis in 1859. The birth and death dates from Catherine were obtained from cemetery inscriptions contained in Family History Center Microfilm No. 1313475, Item 4. Charles Frederick Renschler, 92 years old of North Manchester, IN, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Peabody Retirement Community.
He was born Tuesday, September 14, 1915 in Madison, IN, Son of the late Charles and Nell (Kelly) Renschler.
He served as a navigator and was a second lieutenant in the Army Air corps from 1942-1945
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Louisville KY and he graduated from Indiana University in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in business chemistry.
He retired as a Purchasing Agent for Seagram's Distillery, Louisville, KY after 39 years.
Surviving are his loving wife, Jean Grubb King of North Manchester, IN; son, William C. Renschler of Cincinnati, OH; 2 daughters, Linda Renschler of Lawrenceburg, KY, Jane (David) Richards of Vicksburg, MS; stepson, James Grubb of Salem, OR; 2 stepdaughters, Sally (Ryan) Williams of Charlotte, NC and Marsha (Gary) Groninger of Olathe, KS; and 4 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Mary Alice Gehring Renschler.
Visitation will be 10am-11am, Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Charles T. Rushing passed away on November 1st in Brentwood, California at the age of 44. He was the son of Altus Rushing and Olga Rushing, residents of Fairfield, California.
Charles faithfully and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 21 years and in 2014, he retired honorably as a Master Sergeant.
Charles was preceded in death by his father Altus T. Rushing. He is survived by his mother Olga, his sister Rita Russo, his brother-in-law, two nieces, his fiance Nicole Cabaud, and many other relatives throughout the United States and Mexico.
He will be remembered as a wonderful son, brother and friend.
A visitation will be held at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield, CA on Thursday, November 12 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fairfield on Friday, November 13 at 11:00 am. Charles W. Emery, aged 28, who spent his entire life in Austin township, Macon county, is dead in France. Word to this effect was received by his parents in Maroa, Tuesday. In a letter from the hospital chaplain. Emery died of pneumonia on Dec. 31. As an odd coincidence is that just a
year ago tomorrow, word was received of the death of his brother, Walter Emery, at Camp Cody, Deming, New Mexico.
Charles Emery was widely known in Maroa and Austin township. He was a member of the Second army Artillary Corps, headquarters troop. He went with the contingent of drafted men from Macon county in April 1918. He first went to Fort Washington, Md. He returned in the end of July and spent a furlough in Maroa. Later he sailed for foreign shores and reached England on the Saturday before the signing of the armistice. Then he went across the channel into France. In the last letter received from him, he stated he was in the hospital with an attack of bronchitis. That letter was written on Dec. 3. On Tuesday morning two letters from the chaplain were received. One stated that he was sick with pneumonia but was doing nicely. That letter was written on Dec. 23. The other letter was written on Dec. 31 and stated that the boy had died. Emery was buried at a point 125 miles from Paris.

Mrs. Engel, 91, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Rochester, N.Y. on Aug. 24, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Albert Dean and Margaret Gilligan Bowerman. A graduate of Our Lady of Mercy High School in Rochester, Mrs. Engel was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, John Engel and his wife, Carol, of Rochester and Jim Engel and his wife, Kathy, of Naples, N.Y.; a daughter, Peggy Strickland and her husband, Tommy, of Lexington; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo John Engel; and a son, Bill Engel.

Clayton Williams

Clayton Williams, 90, of Lubbock passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 in Lubbock. He was born August 29, 1925 in Hillsboro to Walter Sinclair and Florence (Bunch) Williams.
He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School. After high school, he entered the U.S. Army and fought for his country during World War II in Germany. When he returned to Hillsboro, he graduated from Hill Junior College.
In 1952 Clayton married the love of his life, Ruth Jordan and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2009. He managed a cotton gin and grain elevators in Kress for a while, before owning and operating his own cotton gin in Tulia. Along with being an avid football and baseball fan, he also loved watching his children play sports. His church membership belonged to the Church of Christ in Kress and Tulia.
Preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Survived by his son, Jerry Clayton Williams; daughter, Lisa Gaye Marmolejo and son, Gary Don Williams and his grand children.
Funeral Services will be Monday, October 26, 2015 at the chapel in Hillsboro. Visitation will be just prior to the service. Burial will be at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro.

Clendus was always known as Otis and the name on his tombstone reads "Otis Nowlin". He was born in Miller Township, Dearborn County, IN. As a young man, Otis traveled helping with corn picking and thrashing in IN and as far west as the Dakotas. He lived most of his married life on Wash Board Road, now known as Mt. Pleasant Road, in Logan Township, Dearborn County, IN. In his latter years he owned a feed mill and lived in Bright, IN. He married Mamie Ann Grubbs on 10 Jun 1911.
