James was a farmer in the Parma area.
His death at age 46 years old was noted in Church of the Nativity death records, Brockport Republic, and 1875 state census. His wife Mary Owens and brother-in-law John Owens were the executors of his estate per the terms of his Will.

Otto C Goers and Rose Fromm married on November 28, 1900 in Rochester, New York. (New York State, Marriage Index, 1881-1967 for Otto C. Goers - 1900 Marriage)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although the NY death index and cemetery records indicate Otto’s death date as May 19, 1936, he apparently committed suicide on May 5, 1936. Perhaps his body was finally found on May 19th.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following includes only portions of the article pertaining to Otto.
Two Drown, One from Boat, Other in Leap from Bridge
-----------------------------
Police county authorities and Coast Guardsmen last night reported failure in efforts to recover the bodies of two men who reportedly committed suicide in the waters of the Genesee River and Irondequoit Bay.
……
The other man was Otto Carl Goers, 67-year-old cabinet maker, of 976 Garson Avenue. A rowboat he rented at 11:45 a. m. was found empty but right side up, drifting on the surface of Irondequoit Bay at 12:15 p. m.
Hat Clue to Identity
By a coincidence, each man left behind only his headgear.
……
The rowboat when brought ashore contained Goer’s cap.
It was thought last night search for both men would be abandoned because of the current in the river and because officials had no eyewitnesses to tell them where Goers disappeared.
Asked About Deep Water
Goers rented a rowboat from William C. Mosher, boat liveryman, of 476 Bay Front Road. Mosher later told Deputies Joseph Friedman and Stanley Edick and Irondequoit Policeman William Oliver that Goers had made remarks about wanting to “get some fresh air” and had asked him where in that vicinity the water was deepest.
Sunken logs and other obstacles made dragging so difficult Morgue Attendants Patrick Brennan and Ray Fredericks lost several lines and hooks. Scent of the apparent drowning was at the southern end of the bay, about a mile south of Glen Haven.

Drowning Victim Bay Hunt Halted
Faced with a complete lack of knowledge of where in Irondequoit Bay the drowning occurred, Coroner Richard A. Leonardo yesterday permitted morgue attendants to cease efforts to recover the body of Otto C. Goers, 67, of 976 Garson Avenue.
Authorities believe Goers committed suicide by dropping into the water from a rented boat. He had been despondent and had asked to find “the deepest part of the bay.” The boat later was found floating right side up.
Likewise, Summerville Coast Guardsmen reported no results in their vigil for a sight of the body of an unidentified man who leaped to his death from Veterans’ Memorial Bridge. Both suicides occurred Tuesday.

PHELPS-The death of Mrs. Sarah Jane Phelps, Monday, February 11th, at the home of her son, Judson Lorenzo Phelps, at No. 70 Bellevue drive, removes from our midst, a life of rare beauty and excellence.
She was born September 14, 1829 in Sullivan, Madison county, New York, having, after death, reached her 89th year.
She was the daughter of Ashley and Mary Webster Brooks, and on her maternal side was a direct descendant of Governor John Webster, of Connecticut, who in 1636 was one of the founders of the colony of Connecticut and a settler of the city of Hartford. Lieutenant Robert Webster, a son of Governor Webster, married Savannah Treat, daughter of Richard Treat. Esq., of Wethersfield, Conn., and a sister of Hon. Robert Treat, of the eighth governor of Connecticut. William Webster, a son of Lieutenant Robert Webster, married Sarah Nichols, daughter of William Nichols, of the line of Cyprian Nichols, of Hartford, and thus the blood of these historic families, Webster, Treat, Nichols, in the first three generations in America, flowed in her veins. Ensign William Webster's son, Samuel married Elisabeth Case, and their son, Timothy, of Madison, Conn., and Livingston Manor, Columbia County, N.Y., married Sarah Allen, and they were the parents of Mary (Webster) Brooks, mother of Mrs. Phelps, the latter being in the seventh generation from Governor John Webster.
October 5, 1848 she married Joshua Lorenzo Phelps, at Kellogsville, Cayuga County, N.Y. He died In Auburn, N. Y. Three children survive her, George Warren Phelps, of New York city, Judson Lorenzo Phelps and Vincent Ashley Phelps, of this city.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. Melville R. Webster, associate pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of this city. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery "in hope of the resurrection of the just."
