Death of Mrs. C.A. Wall
The announcement of the death of Mrs. C.A. Wall at her residence in this place last Sunday morning was not altogether unexpected, as she had been in feeble health for several weeks, and for a few days before the silver cord was loosed it became apparent to the loving ones who anxiously watched by her bedside that the time for the separation of soul from body was near at hand. But however much the loved ones who are left behind may be prepared, the realization the the solemn messenger has summoned from our midst one whose life is intertwined with good deeds and kind and thoughtful acts, overwhelms us with grief.
Mrs. Wall was a good woman, faithful member of the Baptist church, and she has gone up higher to reap the reward of a well spent life. Although confined for weeks upon a bed of sickness she complained not, but with a spirit of sweet resignation awaited without fear for the transition from earth to heaven, telling those around her that she would walk through the valley of death with the full confidence that a life of peace and joy, free from pain and trials, awaited her on that bright shore.
She leaves a husband and several children, Mrs. M.H. Bird, Mrs. W.P. Rawlings, Mrs. L.B. Holt, Mrs. C.S. Mathias, Miss Lizzie Wall, Mr. C.S. Wall, and Mr. J.B. Wall, and many other relatives to mourn her death.
The funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Dr. T.J. Beck, after which the burial took place in the city cemetery, a large number of relatives and friends following the remains to their last resting place.
The sympathy of our people is extended to the bereaved family in their affliction.

MONTEZUMA

"In the midst of life we are in death." We are born! We live! We grow and we die. For we are the same as our fathers, they lived, they struggled and they died. We cannot interpret death any more than the men of Plato's day, only as we view death from a christian standpoint. By faith we can exclaim: "Oh! death where is thy sting?" The human mind is partially reconciled to the thought of the aged, weary traveler falling asleep in his last journey. But cannot fully accept the thought of young people passing away ere they reach the summit. It is God's plan, it is God's way, and we accept it. Sunday, August 14th, the angel of death visited two homes. Tuesday, two open graves and two funerals. Sunday noon after a brief illness, Mrs. Ada Helmer Parker, the beloved wife of our townsman, Edward Parker, passed on to her rest. This excellent woman, this devoted wife and mother and loving daughter and sister, kind parent and neighbor is survived by a loving husband, a lovely child, a boy four years old, a devoted mother, Mrs. Sarah Helmer, a cherished sister, Mrs. James Merritt of Savannah, and a large circle of friends who will miss Ada and mourn her untimely death. The funeral service was held at the Methodist Episcopal church. Rev. C. A. Willson officiating. A large attendance was present many of whom were from Savannah and Tyre. The floral tributes were beautiful. The employees of the barge canal gave a beautiful piece of fine flowers tastily arranged, "Gates A Jar." It was the finest collection of flowers ever seen in this section and was "a silent but impressive tribute to her memory." They made her a grave in Evans cemetery, where the birds sing the sweetest and tarry the longest, and there she sleeps beside her father, where their bodies shall rest until the dawn of that illustrious morning when the sea shall give up its dead. Days, weeks, months and years shall come and return. But the voice of the beloved Ada will never cheer the hearts of those she loved. Sleep kind friend, in thy grass covered home, it will be covered with beautiful flowers, rest and take thy sleep, while o'er thy grave thy many friends shall weep.

Mr. Edward Parker and family return their grateful thanks to all those who so kindly assisted them during the sickness and burial of their loved one. Also return thanks to the barge canal employees who presented the beautiful floral design, "Gates A Jar", and to all who contributed flowers.

2603 The Story of Neshoba [County] by: R.I. Breland.
The Neshoba Democrat, February 23, 1934

THE KING Family - Among the early settlers of Neshoba County was Riley King Sr. and family. He has been gone for several years, but he has a multitude of descendants who line in the county. I have been unable to secure the names of his faither and mother, so we can only start with the family that came to Mississippi.
Perhaps it was about the year 1825 that Riley King Sr was born in the state of Georgia. When a young man he came to Alabama. When about 21 years old he was married to Theresa Jane Crawley. This was somewhere about 1850 when this important event took place. Soon after their marriage, Riley and wife, and perhaps one or two children, traveled westward in search of a newer country. They traveled likely in a wagon through the eastern part of Mississippi. Among the pines in the western part of Neshoba County near what is now High Hill, they decided that they had found the land of their dreams so settled down to farming. For about fifteen years they lived their lives in western Neshoba where they were induced to sleep by the sighing of the zephyrs in the stately pine tops. Finally, however, they decided to locate further east, consequently they secured a home one mile west of Philadelphia [Mississippi] where they settled down and spent the balance of their lives. To this family were born twelve children. The oldest of whom was Samantha Jane who was followed by Joseph William, Margaret Ann, Safrona Isabelle, John H., Martha Ellen, James Warren, Joshua Hughes, Jacob Riley, Lyda Mae, Jeremiah Eugene and Lucy Permelia. All these have married except Eugene. Samantha Jane King married Thomas Wells. The following children; Theresa and Sudie Wells. Joseph W. King married Nen Jones. The names of their children are not obtainable. Margaret King married Henry Williamson. Their children; Alonzo, Lessie Dell, Dixie Jane, Edna, Arbritt, Walter (Buddie). Safrona Isabelle King married Thomas P. Lewis. Children: Cornelius, Fannie, Alma, Leon, Cleveland and Grady. John H. King married Victoria Bowden. Children: Lucien, Ida, Jessie, Rodney, Eva, Victoria, Maxie and Margaret. Martha Ellen King married George Washington Yates. Children: Claude, R. B., Georgia, Lela, Earl, Irene, Eugene and Guy. All the boys of this family are medial doctors, dentists or pharmacists. James W. King married Littie Giles. Children: Ethel, Blanch, Howard, Jewel and Rita. Joshua Hughes King married Sallie Cannon. Children: Lee, Fannie, Jessie, Byrd and R.J.. Jacob Riley King married Jeanette Conn. They have a number of children but I am not informed as to what their names are. Lyda Mae King married Garrett H. Suttle. Children: G. H. Jr, Lyda Mae and Spurgeon. Lucy Permelia King married Walker Yearwood. Children: Permelia, Carrie Lou, Faye, and W. R. Jr.
Joe King lives in Texas. Riley, Lucy and Eugene live in Louisiana, all the others who [are] living are in Mississippi. Riley King Sr. died in 1896 and his wife Theresa died in 1915. In this family there are doctors, preachers, pharmacists, business men and women and school teachers. The family has left its impress upon the county and is still giving a splendid citizenship.

Munding, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester J. Munding of Selye Terrace. The vows were received by the Rev. Vincent LeFrois, cousin of the bridegroom.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a light blue wool costume suit and carried a white prayer book and white orchids.

Her only attendant was Mrs. Theodore Neidlinger, who wore a caramel brown wool costume suit, and a corsage of gladioli and pompons. N. Lee Hastings, Jr., was best man and ushers were Edward Brennan and Richard Munding, brother of the bridegroom.

The bride's mother wore a wine crepe gown and a corsage of orchids, while the bridegroom's mother was gowned in brown crepe, and also wore an orchid corsage.

A reception at the Rochester Club followed the ceremony, after which the couple left for Lake Placid. They will make their home in Oneonta.
